Sadness remains for individuals who visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the actual death camps.

Venturing into the northeastern reaches of Cambodia, Ratanakiri province beckons travelers with its untouched natural beauty. For those yearning for a respite from urban hustle and bustle, this verdant haven offers just that, complemented by rich cultural experiences. While there, immerse yourself in the traditions of Cambodia's ethnic minorities and let the serene ambiance of nature envelop you.

A glimpse of the city's grandeur isn't complete without experiencing its other landmarks. From the shimmering Silver Pagoda and the treasure trove that is the National Museum to the tranquil island of Koh Dach and the bustling Toul Tumpang Russian Market, Phnom Penh is replete with places to see and memories to make.

Battambang

Battambang is the second largest city in Cambodia, and it served as a major hub during the French colonial era. French factories are as well preserved as the city's old pagodas like Ek Phnom and Damrey Sor.

Battambang offers a taste of both urban colonialism and rural Cambodia. Don't leave without experiencing a ride on a "bamboo train," a mode of transportation traditionally used to move products and constructed by locals. Not far from the 'bamboo train station' is Phnom Sampov, also called Bat Cave or Death Caves due to its dark history.

Kratie

The town of Kratie rests on the Mekong River's banks. Those with a sense of adventure who are interested in navigating this well-known river in South-East Asia should make a stop in Cambodia. A rare type of freshwater dolphin called the Mekong orcelle can be seen near Kratie. The current total number of this breed is between 66 and 86, and it is critically endangered.

After docking at Kratie, you can take the ferry to Koh Trong Island, a verdant sanctuary on the river where you can view Khmer heaps among the beautiful gardens, in addition to taking a boat ride to search for images of the rare water dolphins. When the sun rises or sets over the Mekong River in Cambodia, it does so in one of the most beautiful and tranquil settings in the country.

Mondulkiri

Mondulkiri province is one of the least inhabited parts of Cambodia and is located in the country's east, on the border with Vietnam. Here, you may see the unique beauty and vibrant life of wild creatures in an environment that has yet to be discovered by the masses of tourists. The natural beauty of the region is only part of what draws tourists to.

You should see the Bou Sra waterfall, and the Memang gold mine while in Mondulkiri.
